What do we certify?

Currently CAFECERT grants the following product conformity certifications for coffee Denomination of Origin and Protected Geographical Indication Café de Colombia, based on the regulations of use that govern each of them:

To certify the product conformity of the aforementioned denomination of origin, CAFECERT evaluates that the coffee subject to study meets the following criteria:

  • Species: Arabica Species
  • Organoleptic qualities (mild, clean cup, of medium/high acidity and body and a full and pronounced aroma

* It is important to note that obtaining a product conformity certificate for the aforementioned geographical indications does not grant or guarantee the right to use them.

The authorization to process any of the aforementioned geographical indications, must be provided before the Intellectual Property coordination of the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia propiedad.Intelectual@cafedecolombia.com

Once the certification with Cafecert has been obtained, the Coordination of Intellectual Property of the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia will issue a letter of authorization of use to the Roaster, Thresher, Solubilizer or Coffee Extract Producer, which will include the brands or coffees that have been previously evaluated.

Said authorization will empower them, as coffee processors and the owner of the trademark, to use the seal of the Denomination of Origin Café de Colombia (DO), Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) and to declare that their coffee is Colombian or of some regional origin. Colombian protected.
